1.    Introduction - Welcome to Percy Park Rugby Club.

Welcome to Percy Park Rugby Club. The club is very family orientated and works hard to ensure it is inclusive to all members. There are five pitches available, three with floodlights and two pitches belonging to Kings school Tynemouth. The club also has a shop and two function rooms which are available for hire.
The structure at the club is broken into four areas:- Mini / Midi rugby, Junior Rugby, Colts Rugby and Senior Rugby. Additional to this there is a touch rugby team, the Percy Park Pirates.
All coaches are at least level 1 qualified and are in possession of current CRB certificates.
Mini / Midi rugby covers ages from Under 7’s through to Under 12’s with a team at each age group. These ages train and play on Sunday mornings and are part of a structured fixture with all the other clubs in Northumberland.
The rules governing the playing of rugby at Mini / Midi level are governed by a set of rules called the continuum. The continuum covers the introduction, teaching, playing and coaching in three incremental stages of Under 7-8, Under 9-10, and Under 11-12. To view the continuum the web address is:
http://www.rfu.com/TheGame/Regulations/RugbyContinuum.aspx
Junior Rugby covers Under 13’s through to Under 16’s and train during the week at the club. Their games, both home and away, are played on a Sunday morning and are organised and managed by the respective age group coaches. The rules governing the playing of rugby at Junior level are also governed by the continuum.
Academy/Colts Rugby which covers the Under 17’s and Under 18’s train twice a week, Monday night and Wednesday night and play their games on Saturdays and Sundays dependant on the league.
The Senior Rugby teams train on a Monday and Wednesday night and play on a Saturday afternoon.

Any issues you have with regards child safety and protection will be flagged to the club’s child protection officer. If the club deems the severity of the incident to be serious then the matter will be raised with the relevant parties within Northumberland RFU.

8.    Shop and Catering Information

The club shop and kitchen are ran by volunteers and are open most Sunday mornings during the season. The shop  between 10am and 12pm and the kitchen from 10:30am onwards.  In the shop you are able to buy the essentials required to kit your children out such as shorts socks and Percy Park rugby shirts. We also stock a wide range of other rugby accessories such as stik mitts, studs, gum shields and training kit. Although we don’t stock everything we are able to get one off items through our supplier. These items can be badged with the club logo but as you can appreciate these are non returnable. The kitchen provides hot food and drinks for both parents and players: a light meal is available for all players after a game.

9.    Parents, Coaches and Players Behaviour

The whole ethos of Percy Park is to create a friendly and welcoming environment. The rules for behaviour of coaches, parents and players are clearly set out by the RFU and are adhered to by the club.

10.    Kit Sponsorship and Strips

The majority of playing kit is funded by the kind support and generosity of sponsors that often carries the sponsors name or logo. We are grateful for the continued support we receive in this area and always welcome new interested parties. The shop does stock the basics such as shorts, socks gumshields etc. Generally training clothing is self funded and Percy Park is keen to ensure that players are suitably attired for the weather conditions in line with RFU policies. All training equipment such as ball, cones, tackle shields etc are provided by the club

11.    First Aid

All coaches have basic introductory first aid knowledge which is often supported by parent volunteer health professionals. The club is always keen for anyone with a medical background who is willing to be included in this role to make themselves known to the respective Chairs.

12.    Club Membership

An annual membership fee is required to enrol players with the RFU. An additional membership fee is required to enrol with Percy Park which is used to pay for the facilities and training equipment. This also funds refreshments after games and the general maintenance of the playing areas. The annual membership fee covers a basic 3rd party insurance for the players. Should parents wish to they can take out additional insurance for their children but this is an individual choice and is not provided by the club.
